CAMPAIGN · DEFINITIVE EDITION
Mercenaries and Masters
Sforza and Piccinino are sent to retake Brescia, but Venetian troops overrun the city. Break out with a surviving soldier, regroup at the southern mercenary camp, then join Piccinino’s assault to reclaim Brescia.

Overview
Sforza and Piccinino are sent to retake Brescia, but Venetian troops overrun the city. Break out with a surviving soldier, regroup at the southern mercenary camp, then join Piccinino’s assault to reclaim Brescia.
Player approach
Mercenaries and Masters begins with an escape from Brescia. Cavalry and Condottieri can move quickly, while the slow Hand Cannoneers are easier to leave behind; Monasteries must remain intact.
Step-by-step plan
Take the Cavaliers and Condottieri through the escape route and avoid delaying for the Hand Cannoneers. Use Visconti’s regular tributes as the main income, supplementing it by destroying Lombard Markets when resources are needed. After claiming the camp, build a focused counter force such as Cavaliers with Hand Cannoneers, and keep a small garrison at home while preparing for the last fight.
Risks and adjustments
Destroying any Monastery causes a loss, so keep siege and area attacks away from those buildings. Tribute pauses can occur; do not spend all resources between payments.
