Overview

Lead the Umayyad crossing into Iberia and the campaigns that follow.

Scenario details

Lead the Umayyad crossing into Iberia and the campaigns that follow. Mission order and scenario notes: 1. The Battle of Guadalete — Tariq ibn Ziyad establishes a foothold in Iberia by defeating King Roderic, then turns toward Cordoba. Rally local support and withstand the Visigoth response while opening a route to the city’s Castle 2. Consolidation and Subjugation — After taking Toledo, Tariq pushes outward against the remaining Visigoth towns. Secure the capital quickly before reinforcements return, then choose which three neighboring strongholds to bring under control 3. Divide and Conquer — Tariq’s army is split between two distant bases as it advances toward Zaragoza and Narbonne. Protect both footholds from raids, use Theodemir of Murcia’s support, and strike at the Castles that guard the two cities; the Asturian fortresses can be challenged or bypassed 4. Crossing the Pyrenees — Abd ar-Rahman al-Ghafiqi leads a force through mountain passes patrolled by enemy armies and exposed to dangerous cold. Preserve the commander, enough soldiers, and a supply cart while choosing a route around the region’s fortified strongholds 5. Razzia — Al-Ghafiqi begins with a veteran army but no settled economy. Raid the nearby villages for supplies and the resources needed to establish a base, then build up strength to defeat Bordeaux and the Frankish forces Use the named objectives, starting setup, and mission order in this entry to distinguish it from the standard skirmish rules.
