Armenians Strategy
Use the Armenians’ early infantry access to establish pressure, then build toward a mixed force of Composite Bowmen, upgraded infantry, and Warrior Priests. Fortified Churches create an early relic-control opportunity, while the civilization’s extra galley projectile supports a separate water-map plan.

Overview
Use the Armenians’ early infantry access to establish pressure, then build toward a mixed force of Composite Bowmen, upgraded infantry, and Warrior Priests. Fortified Churches create an early relic-control opportunity, while the civilization’s extra galley projectile supports a separate water-map plan.
Opening decision and first timing
Open around the early infantry upgrade window: gather enough food to keep Villagers and the Barracks active, then bring the stronger line forward before opposing armies fully develop. The discounted Mule Cart makes a mobile drop-off more attractive when a safe resource is depleted. On land, place the first Fortified Church where a Monk can return with its Relic without exposing the economy.
Composition, counters, and transition
Composite Bowmen can threaten armored units from behind infantry, but they still need a screen against fast attackers. Decide whether wood and gold will fund infantry, the unique ranged unit, or a naval contest; trying to build all three at once delays the pressure. On water, the extra Galley and Dromon projectile is useful only if the Dock and fishing income remain protected.
Opening priorities
Take advantage of infantry arriving an age earlier to contest the Feudal and Castle Age transitions. On land maps, keep the opening flexible and use the first Fortified Church to secure a relic when the map allows.
Core army
Pair Composite Bowmen with durable infantry so ranged pressure and melee protection arrive together. Warrior Priests can support the force and make relic control more rewarding.
Technology & transition
On water maps, use the extra galley projectile to contest the shoreline, then add the Cilician Fleet benefits when the game reaches the appropriate stage.
Watch for
Protect the ranged core from fast cavalry and avoid spending on every infantry upgrade before the next timing.
