Building line of sight
Buildings provide vision around their position, with the amount depending on the structure and its upgrades. Vision can reveal approaches and nearby activity, while trees, elevation, and fog of war still limit what players can see.

How this system affects decisions
Treat research as a sequence of choices: check its building, Age, prerequisite, cost, and the units or economy affected. An upgrade is most valuable when it arrives before the army needs it and improves enough of the units already in production; researching every available technology is rarely the best use of a limited stockpile.
How to use this reference
Buildings provide vision around their position, with the amount depending on the structure and its upgrades. Vision can reveal approaches and nearby activity, while trees, elevation, and fog of war still limit what players can see. Range, vision, and explored terrain answer different questions: attack range determines what a unit can hit, line of sight reveals nearby tiles, and fog rules determine what information remains visible to the player.
