Castle placement for map control
A Castle can protect economy, secure a route, or support an attack, depending on what the site controls.

Overview
A Castle can protect economy, secure a route, or support an attack, depending on what the site controls.
Plan and execution
Scout terrain and expansion before spending stone. Cover resources or movement, support nearby workers, and keep an army close during construction.
Risks and adaptation
A forward Castle can be isolated while a deep one concedes the map. Protect repair access and watch for siege. Check whether the Castle protects more than one route and whether builders can reach it safely. Keep a mobile reserve for the side outside its range, where raids can still reach the economy.
Decision example
A Castle should protect a resource, production route, or crossing that matters in the next stage of the game. Scout its firing area and the enemy army before bringing builders; the strongest-looking forward site can fail if the Villagers cannot survive construction. After it finishes, use the protected ground for gathering, reinforcement, or siege rather than letting the building stand alone. Keep an alternate defense at home if the opponent can bypass it.
