Opening decision and first timing
The food and gold gained on each age advance can fund immediate Archer production or an upgrade as the new Age begins. Place the necessary military building before the timing arrives, and keep the first ranged group together. Faster firing improves exchanges, but do not chase Scouts or Skirmishers into a poor fight.
Composition, counters, and transition
Free Pikeman research gives a low-friction response to mounted units as Castle Age starts. Use Pikemen to guard Archers and siege, then add Shotel Warriors for a fast melee threat when the opponent leaves openings. Torsion Engines strengthens a siege-centered late push; it does not remove the need to screen expensive machines from cavalry and conversions.
Opening priorities
Play the opening carefully and use the resources gained on age advancement to establish a timely ranged army.
Core army
Archer-line units are the central strength, supported by siege and specialized infantry.
Technology & transition
Use the Castle Age power spike to maintain ranged pressure, then transition into siege or the unique unit when needed.
Watch for
The economy is less forgiving before its age-up bonuses arrive; defend early and avoid spending food that delays the next Age.
