Overview
Khitans: Use Pastures and their efficient food economy to reach an early military timing without overbuilding Farms. Cavalry and complementary ranged units make a flexible force once the food engine is running.
Opening decision and first timing
Pastures alter the food plan, so place them where they can be defended and count their livestock output before cutting back on other food. Doubled early melee Blacksmith effects can give the first fight a real edge, particularly when the chosen mounted or infantry line will immediately use the upgrade.
Composition, counters, and transition
Quickly trained Spearman, Skirmisher, and Scout lines make a reactive defense or timing push possible. Heavy Cavalry Archers arriving earlier give a mobile ranged route, but require suitable upgrades and a stable gold flow. Liao Dao and Mounted Trebuchets create later tactical options; keep the former protected from an unsuitable matchup and the latter screened when buildings become the target.
Opening priorities
Use Pastures and their efficient food economy to reach an early military timing without overbuilding Farms.
Core army
Cavalry and complementary ranged units make a flexible force once the food engine is running.
Technology & transition
Convert the food lead into sustained Castle Age production and control the map before late-game gaps matter.
Watch for
The military tree has late-game weaknesses across several branches; seek an advantage before the opponent completes upgrades.
