Overview
Malay: Use the faster age advancement to reach a timing before the opponent is ready, especially on water maps. Fish Traps and naval production turn saved wood into a lasting food and fleet advantage.
Opening decision and first timing
Faster age transitions can produce a timing lead only if food and military buildings are ready when the advance completes. On water, cheaper long-lasting Fish Traps improve sustained income, but their Docks and fleet must remain safe. On land, free infantry armor can support an early Barracks group without diverting resources from production.
Composition, counters, and transition
Cheap Battle Elephants can surprise an opponent who has not built counters, while Karambit Warriors exploit population space in a large mixed army. Either needs support against a specialized answer. In a long match, Forced Levy changes the resource plan for infantry; use it after checking whether food and production can actually sustain the new composition.
Opening priorities
Use the faster age advancement to reach a timing before the opponent is ready, especially on water maps.
Core army
Fish Traps and naval production turn saved wood into a lasting food and fleet advantage.
Technology & transition
Maintain water control and convert the quick Age lead into upgraded ships or land production.
Watch for
The economy leans heavily on water and wood efficiency; protect fishing and avoid an unsupported land push.
