Malians Strategy
Malians: Use the wood saved by cheaper buildings to add early Archers, Farms, or extra production. Infantry and cavalry can both form the core; adapt the army to the opponent rather than relying on one line.

Overview
Malians: Use the wood saved by cheaper buildings to add early Archers, Farms, or extra production. Infantry and cavalry can both form the core; adapt the army to the opponent rather than relying on one line.
Opening decision and first timing
Cheaper buildings release wood for Farms, Archers, or an extra military queue. The improved gold economy can support a gold-heavy army, but it does not replace food for Villagers and upgrades. Use pierce-resistant Barracks units to test ranged defenses only after scouting the opponent’s cavalry and siege support.
Composition, counters, and transition
Gbeto can strike from a safe line behind sturdier troops and threaten exposed workers, but their mobility should not tempt repeated unsupported dives. Farimba strengthens the mounted route if Stables, upgrades, and food are already in place. Keep the army flexible: the wood and gold bonuses are best spent on the counter the opponent actually forces.
Opening priorities
Use the wood saved by cheaper buildings to add early Archers, Farms, or extra production.
Core army
Infantry and cavalry can both form the core; adapt the army to the opponent rather than relying on one line.
Technology & transition
Carry the flexible economy into Castle Age and choose the unique unit or technology that complements the matchup.
Watch for
Some ranged and defensive upgrades are missing, so avoid assuming towers or archers will scale like a fully upgraded roster.
