Opening decision and first timing
Cheaper gold cost on age advances lets the first gold income support more military, but food still sets the pace. Settle a resource position that can be defended and use its healing aura to preserve damaged troops. A Feudal Archery Range or Champi Scout opening should be selected after checking the opponent’s first units.
Composition, counters, and transition
Range units gain armor as the game advances, making a sustained ranged army more attractive if upgrades and reinforcements are timely. Guecha Warriors and Temple Guards answer different threats; scout before adding either unique line. Faster Monk faith recovery can support Relic control or conversions behind a protected front, while free Caravan and Guilds matter mainly in a long economy or trade game.

Technology & transition
Continue with the unique technologies that fit the matchup, rather than delaying military to chase every option.
Watch for
The Blacksmith tree is notably limited; check armor and attack upgrades before planning long engagements.
