Anatolia

Anatolia, added with Knights of the Mediterranean, centers on a long grassy valley through rugged terrain. The valley contains a Trade Route and grazing livestock, and it can separate teammates as well as opposing starts; each player begins near a Phanariote settlement.

Anatolia

Map character

Scout the length of the valley and its approaches before moving Villagers far from the Town Center. The route and livestock reward access to the corridor, while nearby treasures can supply Food, Wood, Coin, Experience or a War Dog. In free-for-all layouts, the map instead places a short circular Trade Route in the center and each player in a more defensible valley.

What to scout

Secure the valley entrance and the resources your army needs before spreading into neighboring valleys. A Trading Post or livestock plan is valuable only if the route can be defended; keep a mobile group ready to answer pressure from adjacent starts. In free-for-all, scout the central route before committing to the same side as another player.

A valley that shapes expansion

In Knights of the Mediterranean, Anatolia is arranged around a long grassy valley through rugged terrain. The valley contains the central Trade Route and grazing livestock, and can divide teammates as well as opponents. Each player begins near a Phanariote settlement. In free-for-all layouts, a short circular Trade Route appears centrally and each player starts in a defensible valley.

Scouting the middle

The corridor can support trade and livestock access while exposing an army to pressure from neighboring valleys. Scout approaches before moving Settlers far from the Town Center. Treasures include Food, Wood, Coin, experience and a War Dog rescue, helping bridge the opening before a Trade Post is ready. Anatolia’s Age III version belongs to Definitive Edition: Knights of the Mediterranean; this entry describes that layout.
