Challenge rules

Each opponent is tied to a target structure: destroy the Russian Blockhouses, Aztec War Huts, Japanese Castles, British Fort and French Fort Headquarters to defeat their armies. Building a Trading Post at every Trade Route socket is optional. The scenario’s progress is based on defeating these opponents, not simply clearing nearby units.

Targets & scoring

Prioritize the next named structure and keep the attack moving so the timer is spent on required targets. Protect artillery or siege units from defenders, and take Trade Route objectives after the route is safe if time remains.

Timed target sequence

Bombard Brawl is an Ottoman challenge scenario from the 2021 Lunar New Year Festival in Definitive Edition. It asks the player to defeat rival armies before the timer expires, with leaderboard scoring based on the result. Each opponent is tied to a key structure: Russian Blockhouses, Aztec War Huts, Japanese Castles, the British Fort and the French Fort Headquarters. Destroying the named target defeats that opponent’s army, so identify the next target and keep siege units moving rather than spending time clearing every defender. Defenders can threaten artillery during the approach, so screen the siege force and use the Ottoman army to open a route. Building Trading Posts at every Trade Route socket is optional; do it only when the route is safe and the time cost will not endanger the required structure sequence. The challenge rewards efficient movement and target priority more than long-term economic development. Protect the units that can damage buildings and avoid letting the army fragment between opponents. The scenario is timed and scripted, so its target list should not be used as a standard Ottoman build order or compared with a normal multiplayer game.

Ottoman challenge priorities

The Ottoman player should preserve the units that can destroy each target structure and move directly between opponents. Russians are defeated by destroying Blockhouses, Aztecs by War Huts, Japanese by Castles, British by a Fort and French by the Fort Headquarters. Clear defenders only enough to protect siege damage; extended fighting away from the named building consumes the timer without advancing the score. Trading Posts at every route socket are optional and should come after the required target sequence if time remains.

Score and optional route play

The leaderboard challenge rewards efficient structure destruction, so record which target is next and avoid backtracking across the map. The optional Trade Route sockets can be valuable, but their posts should be built only after the named opponents are defeated or when a safe route lies directly along the attack path. Keep artillery protected from the remaining defenders.

Preserving siege units

The rival structures are the mission’s progress markers, so keep artillery alive between targets. Move the Ottoman force as a group, clear only defenders that block the siege and use safe Trade Route sockets as optional objectives rather than allowing them to draw the army off course.

Target order and remaining time

The mission’s targets are the Blockhouses, War Huts, Castles, British Fort and French Fort Headquarters. Track which opponent remains and send siege units to the next structure as soon as the previous army falls. Optional Trading Posts are best taken when they lie along the route or the required targets are already cleared.

Ottoman force maintenance

The timed challenge rewards preserving siege units between opponents. Focus fire on the named structure, avoid unnecessary pursuit and regroup after a target is destroyed. The Ottoman force must still reach the French Fort Headquarters after the earlier targets, so a win against nearby units does not replace the structure objective.

Keep the challenge moving

Defeating the army is tied to destroying its named building. Use the Ottoman force to clear the path, protect bombard units and continue to the next target instead of remaining to collect optional route posts.

Score by destroying each faction’s key defenses

Bombard Brawl is a timed Definitive Edition challenge in which the player earns score by defeating several enemy factions before time expires. The objectives name the structures that end each opponent: Russian Blockhouses, Aztec War Huts, Japanese Castles, the British Fort and the French Fort Headquarters. The primary list also includes defeating the Russian army, so monitor the challenge’s score and remaining time while deciding whether to finish a base or move to the next one. A Trading Post on each Trade Route socket is optional and can add value, but route construction competes with the time needed to siege. Use Bombards to remove priority structures and keep an escort close enough to prevent infantry or cavalry from reaching them. Clear the shortest exposed target first if doing so creates a safe path, then use the remaining time to attack more fortified positions. The score is recorded on a leaderboard, so finishing the objective is not the only measure of a strong run.
