Effect

The listed sources receive a gathering-rate increase rather than a one-time Coin grant. This distinguishes Bookkeeping from mine-focused upgrades such as Placer Mines and Amalgamation.

Research condition

Available in the Fortress Age at Estate, Hacienda. Research time: 30 seconds. Cost: 300 food, 300 wood. Civilization-specific building access can vary.

Research decision

Research once the economy has moved to renewable or building-based Coin production, particularly when many Villagers are assigned to the affected buildings. Delay it if most Coin still comes from mines or if those workers will soon switch sources.

Coin gathering at Estates and Haciendas

Bookkeeping is a Fortress Age technology researched at an Estate or Hacienda. It costs 300 Food and 300 Wood and takes 30 seconds. It improves Villager gathering from Estates, Coin Rice Paddies, Coin Fields and Coin Haciendas by 10%, and increases automatic Coin gathering at Haciendas by 10%. Homesteading follows it.

The bonus applies to the named Coin sources, so check that workers or Haciendas will use them long enough to repay the cost. Bookkeeping is required for Homesteading, which adds a stronger follow-up effect. Compare the full chain with other Fortress Age investments.
