Function & construction
African Villagers and eligible livestock units can establish Fields. Its available resource mode and support options depend on civilization and cards; the structure has limited health and is intended to complement, not replace, the rest of the economy.
Placement & timing
Choose Food or Coin according to the next unit queue or Age advance. Build enough gathering support around the selected Field and protect the workers while they use it.
Gathering pace and Granary synergy
A Field is inexpensive to place but deliberately slower than hunting or mining. It can be configured to supply either Food or Coin, never both at once, and each Field supports at most three gatherers. A Granary nearby reduces the construction time from 60 to 40 seconds and improves gathering by 10%, making placement beside the Granary more efficient than scattering isolated Fields. Coin gathering from a Field is 10% slower for Villagers of every civilization, so switching the structure to Coin trades convenience and safety for a lower rate. Fields are useful when nearby Hunts or mines are depleted or dangerous, but their slow infinite supply is best treated as a stable supplement. Reconfigure the resource mode when the army composition or next Age advance changes what the economy needs.
African renewable Food or Coin
The Field is an African economic building introduced in The African Royals for Definitive Edition. It provides an infinite source of Food or Coin, letting the player switch the gathering focus according to the next unit queue or Age advance. African Villagers and eligible livestock can establish Fields. At a cost of 50 Wood and a long recorded construction time, the building asks for early planning rather than serving as a quick emergency source.
Protecting workers and using the mode
A Field has 600 hit points and a small line of sight, so its value comes from the workers and resource supply around it rather than defensive strength. Choose Food when the army or Villager queue needs it, and Coin when mercenaries, cavalry or research constrain production. Build enough worker support to use the selected resource efficiently and protect them from raids. Civilization and card rules can change who builds or benefits from a Field. Compare its gathering with a Livestock Market or other African economy before committing Wood and worker time.
