Role, availability & values

A Cavalier costs 90 Food and 90 Coin, uses two population and takes 35 seconds to train. It has 200 hit points, 7.4 speed and 20% ranged resistance. Its ranged attack deals 22 damage at range 4–12 every three seconds; its hand attack deals 18 damage each second. It also has a 16-damage trample attack with area radius three and a 15-damage siege attack at range six.

Matchup & timing

Use speed to reach exposed targets and choose the attack mode that suits the engagement. The ranged attack can pressure from a short distance, while hand and trample attacks contribute when Cavalry closes into a fight. Two population and the mixed-resource cost make losses expensive; withdraw when anti-cavalry troops can pin the unit down, and keep support nearby for the next engagement.

Ranged and close attacks give different options

The Cavalier is not restricted to its ranged attack. Its 22-damage shot works at range 4–12, while the 18-damage hand attack and area trample attack matter at close range. Its 7.4 speed helps it choose an approach, but 200 hit points are modest for a unit that may have to close. Use the correct attack profile for the target and avoid committing it to a prolonged fight against prepared anti-cavalry forces.
