Dunes - The Eye
Dunes - The Eye is a land map introduced in Definitive Edition: Knights of the Mediterranean. The saved map entry identifies Berber settlements as a notable map feature, while the generated layout determines where each player can reach resources, treasures and settlement sites. The map’s exact openings should be scouted in each match rather than inferred from its name.

Map character
Explore outward from the Town Center and locate the Berber settlement before committing to a Trading Post. Check nearby food, Coin and Wood, then inspect routes between the starting positions and any defensible expansion. The settlement is an alliance objective: controlling it gives access to the listed minor-civilization options, so its value depends on the units and technologies offered in the active version.
What to scout
Use the map entry when selecting a civilization and Home City deck, then verify the actual generated positions in game. Scout the settlement early enough to choose whether its alliance supports your army plan. Avoid building a fixed opening around a presumed resource or route location that the generated layout may not provide.
Locate the Berber settlement before committing
The saved entry identifies Berber settlements as a notable feature, but the generated map determines where the settlement sits relative to each Town Center and route. Scout it before choosing a Trading Post investment. Berber alliance access is valuable only when its available units or technologies support the army plan and the site can be held. A settlement on the far side of an exposed route may cost more to secure than it contributes, especially if the opponent can contest it first.
Use the map as a variable battlefield
Dunes - The Eye does not promise a fixed opening position for every resource, treasure or settlement. Explore nearby Hunts, Coin and Wood, then decide whether to expand along a safe route or establish military control first. Because the exact layout varies, avoid a build order that assumes a specific resource is beside the base. The entry is useful for planning to look for the Berber option; scouting the match remains necessary to select the actual approach.
