Fort Tower

Fort Tower names two unconstructible defensive structures used in Age of Empires III campaigns and the Scenario Editor. Unlike Outposts, they cannot receive Home City shipments or reveal Stealthed units; their weapon and appearance depend on the scenario variant.

Function & construction

Fort Towers have 5,250 hit points, 25 line of sight and a 3×3 footprint in the recorded profile. They attack nearby enemies with ranged, building and anti-siege weapons. Their exact placement and weapon behavior are scripted, so the Fort Tower entry should not be treated as a structure players can build for 300 Wood in ordinary matches.

Placement & timing

Use the mission briefing to determine whether a Fort Tower is a protected asset, a defensive obstacle or an objective. Scout its firing area before approaching and bring the force appropriate to the scenario. Do not assume Outpost shipment behavior or Stealth detection just because the model resembles a frontier tower.

Two scenario variants

The catalogued structure refers to two internal buildings: a Fort Tower used in scenarios such as Breakout and Bombard Brawl, and a wooden version appearing in To Stop a War. They share the defensive-tower role but use different appearances and may have different weapon setups. Both are placed by scenario designers, cannot be constructed by Villagers, do not accept shipments and do not reveal Stealthed units. Their listed build cost is not an ordinary player purchase. Read the scenario state and on-screen objectives before deciding whether to attack or defend one.
