Francisco de Paula Santander
Francisco de Paula Santander was a Colombia Revolution leader choice available to the French, Ottomans and Russians in The WarChiefs and The Asian Dynasties. Definitive Edition replaced this older leader-selection approach with a different, nation-based Revolution system.

Version & availability
Choosing Santander in a supported older version sends three Ironclads to the Home City shipment point. This is a naval reinforcement, not an army-wide bonus, and its usefulness depends on the map and the player’s ability to deploy the ships. It should not be confused with a current Colombia Revolution option in Definitive Edition.
Revolution bonus
In a version that includes this leader choice, select Santander when three Ironclads can influence control of water, transports or coastal positions. On a land-only map, the shipment may have little value. Confirm the edition and Revolution rules before planning around the reward.
Older Colombia Revolution naval reward
In supported WarChiefs and Asian Dynasties versions, this leader option sends three Ironclads to the Home City shipment point. It benefits a player who can deploy and support a naval force, but may have little value on a land-focused map. Definitive Edition uses a different nation-based Revolution system; do not attribute this older leader reward to the current Colombia Revolution.
Separate the revolt arrival from repeatable shipments
Santander’s older Colombia Revolution has two naval moments. Choosing him sends three Ironclads to the Home City shipment point immediately, giving the French, Ottomans or Russians a large ship group if the map has useful water. Once the transition is complete, the associated Home City options include repeatable deliveries of 16 Colonial Militia, four Gatling Guns, one Fort Wagon that increases the Fort build limit by one, or two Ironclads. The initial three ships and the later two-ship card are different rewards, so account for both when planning population and dock access. Use the Ironclads to secure a coast or protect a landing; on a land-only map, prefer a shipment that can support the ground army. These leader and deck rules belong to The WarChiefs and The Asian Dynasties. Definitive Edition’s Colombia nation follows a separate Revolution system.
