Effect & research conditions

Research costs 1,200 Food, 1,200 Wood and 1,200 Coin and takes 30 seconds. Villagers build Fields and gather from them 35% faster; Fishing Ships gather Coin from Whales 35% faster. Before update 14.43676, the bonus was 30% and the research cost 1,500 of each resource.

Research condition

Available to Africans from the Imperial Age. Research it at Granary.

When to research

Research when the African economy can use both quicker Field construction or gathering and Whale Coin income. Check for enough open land, available Whales and a safe route for Fishing Ships before committing the 3,600 total resources. If either side of the package is unavailable, prioritize the army or upgrades needed for the next fight.

Field work and Whale Coin

The Field bonus covers both Villager construction work and gathering: Fields can be established and harvested 35% faster. Fishing Ships separately gather Coin from Whales 35% faster. The technology does not improve all African resource gathering.

Version and investment context

The current Imperial Age Granary research costs 1,200 Food, 1,200 Wood and 1,200 Coin for 30 seconds. Before update 14.43676, it cost 1,500 of each and provided a 30% bonus. The current combined effect is valuable when both Fields and Whales are part of the economy; check map access and protect the work sites before researching.
