Livonia

Livonia is a Commerce Age Revolutionary Nation, earlier than the usual Industrial routes. Its Home City is Riga. Settlers remain workers, but each spawns a Burgher Militia; the transition also supplies a Fort Wagon and High Master. It exchanges normal age progression for an early force while preserving the worker count.

Access & effects

Settlers do not convert into soldiers; each spawns a Burgher Militia and keeps gathering. One Fort Wagon and one High Master help establish a protected position. This does not erase the opportunity cost of delaying progression. Militia need direction, and a wagon matters only if it reaches a useful place where its structure can be defended.

Availability

Germans, Maltese, Poles or Swedes; Commerce Age. Home City: Riga. Sends one Fort Wagon and one High Master; each Settler spawns militia and remains a worker.

Army & economy

Livonia can swing an early engagement if militia protect workers or contest an objective. Place the Fort where it protects gathering or a route. Compare the gain with continued aging; if the force cannot defend or pressure anything important, waiting preserves options.

Commerce Age timing

Livonia’s Commerce Age availability makes its decision fundamentally different from waiting for the usual Industrial revolt. The early militia can protect workers or contest nearby ground while the Settlers continue gathering, but the transition also changes the path the player could have taken by aging normally. Compare the opponent’s timing, the value of the militia at that moment and the cost of delaying the next age. A revolt with no nearby objective can leave the player behind in development despite preserving workers.

Fort Wagon and High Master

The Fort Wagon and High Master provide a basis for organizing the early force around a position. Put the Fort where it supports gathering or blocks a useful route, then keep the militia close enough to defend it. Because Settlers remain economic units, Livonia can reinforce its income while the new troops secure space. Avoid stretching the militia over too wide an area; the benefit of the early transition is clearest when workers and defenses support one another.
