Matchup & timing
Llaneros are one-population heavy cavalry from the Gran Colombia Revolution, trained for 120 Food in 30 seconds at a Stable, Tavern, Fort or Galleon. Their 14-damage hand and trample attacks have a 2× modifier against Infantry, and 250 hit points with 30% ranged resistance support a mobile assault. The Llaneros Home City Card adds a separate economic role: eligible Llaneros can gather Food from herdable animals, train Cows and build Livestock Pens. Decide whether the force is needed for an immediate charge or whether the card-enabled livestock work will better support the new economy; do not expose the low-cost unit to a prolonged fight merely because it is cavalry.
Gran Colombian revolutionary cavalry
Llanero is Heavy Cavalry for Gran Colombia after the Revolution in Definitive Edition. It costs 120 Food, uses one population and trains in 30 seconds from a Stable, Tavern, Fort or Galleon. The unit has 250 hit points, 30% ranged resistance, speed 6.5 and line of sight 15. Its hand attack deals 14 damage every 1.5 seconds with a 2× bonus against Infantry. Siege damage is 13, and the 14-damage trample attack uses the same listed matchup bonus. With the Llaneros card, it can gather Food from herdable animals, train Cows and build Livestock Pens. Those are card-dependent economic options, so the player should not assume them in every deck. Use Llanero’s cavalry mobility to pressure infantry and reposition, while avoiding units that counter Heavy Cavalry. If it switches to livestock work, keep the area safe and return it to the army when the opponent threatens. Several production buildings provide reinforcement flexibility, but the 120-Food cost and one-population slot still compete with other post-revolution units.
Card-dependent economy and combat
The Llaneros card is required for the livestock abilities: gathering Food from herdable animals, training Cows and building Livestock Pens. If the card is not selected, treat Llanero as a cavalry unit rather than an economic worker. Its hand attack’s 2× bonus against Infantry gives it a specific use in the post-revolution army, while the 30% ranged resistance and 250 hit points help it survive some approaches. Heavy Cavalry counters can still punish it. Several buildings can train it, so choose the safest reinforcement source and keep a clear route to the front. Its 120-Food price can support repeated production, but one population per unit still affects the army cap. Use livestock tasks only when the area is secure and return the cavalry to combat when the opponent’s army appears.
Infantry pressure
The 2× Infantry bonus lets Llanero punish exposed infantry, while speed supports flanking and retreat. Avoid Heavy Cavalry counters and keep the unit with support rather than chasing alone.
Llaneros card
The card unlocks gathering from herdable animals, Cow training and Livestock Pen construction. Without it, rely on Llanero’s cavalry combat role and do not assume the livestock economy is available.
Card and resource timing
A Llanero needs both a clear combat assignment and, if using livestock, the Llaneros card. Do not divert a cavalry group to gather animals while an infantry attack is imminent.
Gran Colombian cavalry and infantry bonus
Llaneros are a Gran Colombia heavy-cavalry unit unlocked through the Revolution. Their 6.5 speed and one-population cost let them form a broad mobile group, while a 2× hand-attack bonus against Infantry gives them a specific role when engaging exposed foot troops. The standard attack is 14 damage, with a separate trample profile and 13-damage siege attack. They have 250 hit points and 30% ranged resistance, but the bonus against Infantry does not make them safe against anti-cavalry units. Use mobility to choose an approach, strike targets that cannot protect themselves and disengage when the enemy’s cavalry counters arrive.
Card-enabled livestock utility
The Llaneros card grants additional economic abilities: they can gather Food from herdable animals, train Cows and build Livestock Pens. These actions are conditional on the card and should not be counted as part of the unit’s baseline role without it. Stable, Tavern, Fort and Galleon are the listed training routes, and Llaneros cost 120 Food, one population and 30 seconds to train. The card can connect a cavalry force to livestock production, but constructing pens or gathering animals in contested territory exposes the unit and delays its military work. Decide whether the economy needs that support before sending Llaneros away from the army, and keep enough regular workers to maintain resource gathering.
