Longhouse

The Longhouse is the Haudenosaunee replacement for a standard House. It supports 15 population and can research selected military technologies through Home City access, allowing housing to contribute to the civilization’s development as well as its army capacity.

Function & construction

Longhouses become available from the Exploration Age. Their greater support per structure comes with higher cost and a lower build limit than ordinary Houses; some cards can add defensive functions. The available research and card effects depend on the Haudenosaunee deck and game version.

Placement & timing

Build enough before the army reaches the population cap, while reserving resources for military production. Spread Longhouses so a single raid or siege attack cannot remove all available capacity. Use its technology options when they improve the current roster, and protect the building if it is also supporting the frontline.

Haudenosaunee population and defense

The Longhouse is the Haudenosaunee replacement for a standard House, available in the Exploration Age. It costs 125 Wood, takes 10 seconds to construct and supports 15 population. The building has 1,800 hit points, line of sight 12, a 4-by-3 footprint and a limit of 14. This larger population support per structure reduces how many buildings are needed to house an army, but each Longhouse costs more Wood than an ordinary House and the build limit makes planning important. Construct enough before reaching the population cap, while preserving Wood for military production and expansion. Some Home City cards or technologies can add defensive or research functions, so check the active deck before treating the Longhouse as housing only. Spread buildings so one raid or siege attack cannot remove all of the civilization’s population support. Longhouses can also host selected military research through Home City access, giving the building a connection to army development. Protect the line when it sits near the front, and use the linked House and Siege Workshop entries to understand the broader Haudenosaunee building system.

Population planning

At 15 population each and a limit of 14, Longhouses can support a large army with fewer building sites than ordinary Houses. Their 125-Wood cost still competes with units and upgrades, so build ahead of the population cap.

Research and card effects

Selected Home City cards can add research or defensive functions to Longhouses. Check the deck before placing them near the front, and use any unlocked technology only when it benefits the army composition.

Avoiding population blocks

Because the Longhouse limit is 14, plan population support before reaching the cap. Its 15 population per building is substantial, but a destroyed cluster can still interrupt unit production if the army has no reserve capacity.

Defensive placement

Its population capacity is valuable only while the structure survives. Keep Longhouses within a protected area and distribute them so one siege push cannot remove the entire population reserve.

Building limit

The 14-building cap makes Longhouse placement a long-term population decision. Spread the structures and avoid spending Wood on unnecessary late replacements when the population supply is already secure.

Population capacity and Haudenosaunee development

The Longhouse is the Haudenosaunee population building, supporting 15 population at a cost of 125 Wood. Compared with ordinary Houses, it provides more capacity per structure but has a lower build limit and higher resource commitment. The Longhouse can also research selected military technologies through Home City access, so it links housing to civilization development. Plan capacity before the army reaches its limit and leave enough Wood for production buildings. Because the building limit is finite, replace or protect Longhouses as part of the larger base plan instead of assuming that unlimited structures can solve population needs.

Placement and defensive value

Some Home City Cards can add defensive functions, but those effects depend on the deck and release. Spread Longhouses across safe areas so one raid or siege push cannot remove all population capacity at once, while keeping them close enough to the base that workers can defend or repair them. The recorded profile lists 1,800 hit points and a 4-by-3 footprint; place it where the footprint will not block unit movement or a future expansion. Research only technologies that support the current Haudenosaunee roster. A Longhouse helps prepare the army, but it does not replace a Barracks, a secure economy or the Community Plaza’s ceremony choices.
