Manchuria

Manchuria is a Definitive Edition hybrid map based on Northern China’s Manchurian coast. Cliffs overlook substantial fish stocks, while Yaks and trees are scattered across an otherwise open landscape. Wood can be scarce, and the Trade Route’s position varies between a defensible location behind a base and an exposed northwest position.

Map character

Scout the coast for Fishing Boat access, identify the nearest tree clusters and Yaks, and inspect both possible route areas before investing in a Dock or Trading Post. Shaolin and Tengri are the listed Minor Civilizations. Treasure guardians can include Black Bears, Black Panthers, Lions, Lion-Tailed Macaques, Masterless Samurai, Mongol Riders, Smugglers, Tibetan Macaques and Tigers; the generated seed decides the actual placements.

What to scout

If wood is scarce near the starting position, plan lumber access early and avoid committing to several buildings before locating a reliable source. The coastline can support fishing but cliffs and naval access determine whether a Dock is safe. The route can be easy to defend or exposed toward the northwest, so scout its position before deciding whether to contest it or secure the safer resources first.

Route position changes the opening

Manchuria’s Trade Route position can vary. One layout may place it behind a team’s base where defense is simpler; another may put it toward the northwest where both teams can pressure it. Scout before building a route-centered plan, because the same strategy can shift from safe investment to an early contested fight depending on the seed.

Balance water, food and wood

The map places sizable fish stocks along a coastal region, but trees are sparse and Yaks are scattered. Fishing can supplement Food if the coast is safe, while limited trees make each lumber expansion important. Shaolin and Tengri settlement access adds alliance choices, but the best site is the one the army can reach and defend without abandoning those basic resources.
