Role, availability & values

Villagers can gather from it, with a recorded limit of eight gatherers. Yaks fatten over time and more quickly at livestock buildings; Indians also receive a small experience trickle under the specified rules.

Training & availability

The Asian Dynasties: wild on Himalayas, Silk Road and Mongolia; cannot be trained at livestock buildings or Sacred Field. Definitive Edition: can be delivered through Kumis. Found with 100 Food; maximum 400; up to eight gatherers.

Matchup & timing

Keep Yaks in a safe area while they fatten, then gather them when the Food is needed. Check the map or shipment source, since wild Yaks are not available on every map.

Asian herdable food reserve

Yak is a herdable cattle animal from The Asian Dynasties and Definitive Edition content, appearing on selected Asian maps or through sources such as Kumis. It begins with 50 Food and can fatten to 400 Food. Up to eight Villagers can gather from it, and the animal has 20 hit points and speed 4.0. As livestock, it converts safe time into a larger Food reserve; it does not deliver the maximum amount immediately. Keep Yaks near compatible livestock buildings while they fatten, then harvest when the economy needs Food. Indians receive a small Experience trickle under the specified rules, adding another civilization-specific reason to manage the herd. Wild Yaks do not appear on every map, so check the generation or shipment source before writing them into an opening plan. The low health makes them vulnerable to raids, and losing one destroys the accumulated Food potential. Compare the time required to fatten a Yak with immediate Food gathering or military production.

Fattening and experience rules

Yak begin at 50 Food and can grow to 400, with an eight-gatherer limit and only 20 hit points. Keep them near compatible livestock buildings to speed growth and protect the herd from raids. Indian players receive a small Experience trickle under the specified rules, but that does not change the animal’s role as a Food reserve. Wild Yak access varies by map; Kumis or other content may supply them when the map does not. Gather when Food is needed, and compare further fattening time with the risk of losing stored value.

Safe livestock placement

A herd that is close to compatible buildings can fatten faster, but should remain within a protected economy. Move gatherers to the Yak when its stored Food is useful and keep no more than eight workers assigned.

Choosing Food timing

The animal’s Food grows from 50 to as much as 400. Keep it protected while the value rises, then harvest before a raid or when the economy needs a resource boost.

Food reserve planning

Yaks can reach 400 Food from an initial 50, so the waiting period is part of their value. Keep them safe, and gather before a raid can take the accumulated resource away.

Asian cattle herdable

The Yak is a herdable cattle animal associated with The Asian Dynasties and later Definitive Edition content. It can appear on selected Asian maps or arrive through content such as the Kumis card. A Yak begins with 50 Food and can fatten to 400 Food. Up to eight Villagers can gather from it; the animal has 20 hit points and speed four. Yaks fatten naturally, at 0.25 Food per second in the recorded profile, and fatten faster when penned in a Livestock Market, Livestock Pen, Farm, Village or Hacienda. Indians receive the listed automatic requirement, making the animal part of their civilization-specific livestock economy.

Protect it while it fattens

A Yak is a movable reserve of Food, so keep it near a safe economy while it gains value and gather it when the army or Villager queue needs Food. Moving a Yak toward the base can prevent an opponent from taking it, but do not let the animal block unit movement or wander into enemy territory. Assigning it to a faster-fattening building increases its eventual value, while gathering immediately trades that future growth for current resources. Its eight-gatherer cap is shared with the practical need to keep workers on other resources. Verify the map and civilization access before planning around a Yak; it is not a standard huntable on every map.
