Silk Road
Silk Road is an Asian Dynasties map that selects one of three regional settings: bamboo forest, Central Asian desert or mountain country. Each game begins with a free Market, while existing Silk Road Trading Sites create localized objectives guarded by neutral forces. Unlike a standard Trade Route plan, players compete for these fixed sites rather than constructing ordinary route posts at them.

Map character
Scout the map variant before committing to an opening. The regional terrain changes sightlines and the safe routes between resources and Trading Sites. Site guardians can include Blind Monks, Smugglers or Masterless Samurai; approach only after identifying which group protects the objective. The free Market gives immediate access to its economic functions, but it does not reveal the rest of the map or secure a Trading Site.
What to scout
Contest a site when the force can defeat its guardians and remain close enough to protect the claim. These sites are less productive than ordinary Trade Route posts, so compare their reward with the army needed to hold them. Expand toward the nearest safe site first, and avoid sending a small force into terrain where enemy reinforcements can arrive unseen.
Scout terrain before choosing the first objective
The map’s forest, desert and mountain variants create different approaches to the same economic contest. Use the Explorer to reveal both the Trading Site and nearby routes before committing troops. A guarded site is not an automatic bonus: clearing it exposes units to enemy pressure, and leaving immediately can surrender the position. The free Market supports the opening economy, while the fixed sites reward deliberate map control. Keep a mobile force nearby so a claim can be defended without abandoning the Town Center or distant gatherers.
