Effect & research conditions

Research costs 300 Food and 300 Coin and takes 10 seconds. The effect applies to Nootka Clubmen, not all Native warriors or every unit trained from a military building. The player needs the Nootka settlement connection and access to Clubman production for the savings to be useful.

Research condition

Available from the Exploration Age. Research it at Trading Post or Tambo on a Nootka settlement.

When to research

Research before a sustained Clubman production cycle. The shorter queue helps replace losses or assemble a group faster, while the cost reduction lowers resources spent across repeated units. If only a few Clubmen are planned, the research may not repay its price. Keep the allied site secure and pair the Clubmen with units that cover their weaknesses.

Scale production before committing resources

The two effects reinforce each other when Nootka Clubmen are trained repeatedly: each unit is cheaper and the queue completes faster. The benefit is smaller for a force containing only one or two Clubmen. Estimate the number expected, then compare the total savings with the research cost. The Nootka settlement is both the prerequisite and a map objective, so protect its Trading Post or Tambo. Use the faster queue to reinforce an army plan rather than building a counterless mass.
