Settlement & allied options

A Trading Post at the settlement unlocks the alliance. Inca players use a Tambo for the same purpose. The listed allied roster includes Nootka Clubman, Nootka War Chief. Its settlement offers these technologies: Nootka Bark Clothing, Nootka Potlatch, Loyal Nootka War Chief. The available roster and technologies can vary with the selected map and release.

When to ally

Scout the map for a Nootka settlement before spending resources on an alliance. Use it when the listed unit or technology fills a need in the army or economy, and protect the Trading Post that provides access.

Clubmen and the Nootka War Chief

Nootka Clubmen cost 85 Food and 15 Wood, train in 30 seconds and have 200 hit points and 5.0 speed. Their 12-damage hand attack is effective against Cavalry and their 28-damage siege attack can pressure structures. The Nootka War Chief costs 200 Food and 100 Wood and has 400 hit points, 40% ranged resistance and 5.0 speed. It can claim Treasures and build Trading Posts; its area attacks and 60-damage siege attack make it a valuable support hero rather than a disposable raider.

Economy, production and hero upgrades

Nootka Bark Clothing costs 125 Wood and 125 Coin and increases Villager hit points by 50%, with a 15% hit-point bonus for units affected by Villager upgrades. Nootka Potlatch costs 300 Food and 300 Coin, reducing Nootka Clubman cost by 10% and training time by 50%. Loyal Nootka War Chief costs 200 Wood and 200 Coin, delivers one War Chief and enables the hero to be retrained through Trading Posts, Tambos, Native Embassies and heroes. These investments respectively strengthen the economy’s survival, Clubman production and access to the unique hero.

Map presence and settlement alliance

Nootka settlements are listed on Alaska, California, Cascade Range, Northwest Territory and Yukon. The Trading Post alliance unlocks native units and technologies, and the Nootka War Chief can itself build Trading Posts. Inca use a Tambo at the settlement, while a Native Embassy can also train the allied units. Secure the first site so the upgrade chain and any later retraining remain available.
