Cascade Range
Cascade Range is a land-focused Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition map based on the mountain range of northwestern North America. It has limited resources, no Trade Route and centrally placed Klamath and Nootka settlements; a small amount of Fish is available early, but it does not support a lasting water economy.

Map character
Scout the Town Center’s nearby Hunts, Wood and Tin Mines, then find the central Klamath and Nootka sites. The Native settlements are exposed rather than safe Trading Post options. Salmon offers a short early Food supplement, but the water area is small and too distant to make naval investment a dependable long-term plan. Track replacement resource locations before nearby patches run low.
What to scout
Use compact gathering and early land control to protect workers on this relatively small map. A Dock may help collect nearby Fish at the start, but avoid building a naval plan around that limited stock. Because there is no Trade Route and Native sites sit near the center, compare the value of a contested alliance with securing safe Hunts and Mines on your side first.
Expansion matters on a land-focused map
With limited resources and no dependable water economy, the opening resource patches and replacement sites shape expansion. Scout near the Town Center, identify safe Food and Coin sites, and keep workers close enough for the army to cover. Avoid sending Villagers to distant patches before securing the route; resource depletion can force a vulnerable move if alternatives are not mapped.
Central settlements and finite coastal Food
Klamath and Nootka occupy central positions, leaving little room for a risk-free Trading Post. The map has Elk herds, Tin Mines and Salmon, but its small fish supply is temporary. Secure a replacement Food source before exhausting the easy coastal stock, and scout which settlement can be approached without exposing the army to a central fight. The map is small enough that forces can reach an opponent quickly, so distant economic outposts may need immediate military cover.
