Settlement & allied options

A Trading Post at the settlement unlocks the alliance. Inca players use a Tambo for the same purpose. The listed allied roster includes Klamath Rifleman. Its settlement offers these technologies: Klamath Work Ethos, Klamath Huckleberry Feast, Klamath Strategy. The available roster and technologies can vary with the selected map and release.

When to ally

Scout the map for a Klamath settlement before spending resources on an alliance. Use it when the listed unit or technology fills a need in the army or economy, and protect the Trading Post that provides access.

Klamath Rifleman is both a skirmisher and field worker

The Commerce Age Klamath Rifleman costs 100 Food and 30 Wood, takes 35 seconds to train and has 160 hit points, 30% ranged resistance and 4.25 speed. Its 10-damage ranged attack reaches range 16 and receives bonuses against Treasure Guardians, Light ranged cavalry, Ranged shock troopers and Heavy infantry, while being less effective against Cavalry and Shock troops. It can also gather from Berry Bushes, herdable animals and trees, and claim Treasures. Use this flexibility to scout or support the economy, but avoid exposing the relatively slow unit to its counters.

Gathering and shipment technologies

Klamath Work Ethos costs 100 Food, 100 Wood and 100 Coin and takes 15 seconds; it increases gathering work rate by 5% for Villagers, Fishing Ships and Klamath Riflemen. Klamath Huckleberry Feast costs 150 Wood and 150 Coin and delivers recurring Food crates every three minutes up to the 30-minute limit. Klamath Strategy is a Fortress Age upgrade costing 200 Wood and 150 Coin that raises Klamath Rifleman damage by 25%. The options support different economies: broad gathering, timed Food or stronger allied infantry.

Build around the actual settlement site

A Trading Post, or an Inca Tambo, on a Klamath settlement unlocks the alliance and research. The settlement matters because the riflemen can perform several field tasks while still forming part of the army; protect the post and nearby workers so the units can keep gathering and responding to threats.
