Effect & research conditions

The technology costs 2,000 Coin and takes 15 seconds. It requires the Roger's Rangers technology and The Glorious Revolution Home City Card. After research, Rangers can be trained at Barracks, Forts and Galleons in place of Longbowmen; the research also delivers thirty Rangers and grants their Veteran upgrade.

Research condition

British; Industrial Age; Church; requires Roger's Rangers and The Glorious Revolution Home City Card. Cost: 2,000 Coin; research time: 15 seconds.

When to research

Complete the prerequisite and verify the Home City Card before planning the delivery. Reserve population for the thirty Rangers and start the research early enough for the units to join the intended fight. The production replacement changes the roster at the listed buildings, so make sure the army can protect the ranged line and still has answers to units that counter it.

Complete the prerequisite chain first

Queen's Rangers is not a stand-alone Industrial Age option. Roger's Rangers and The Glorious Revolution Home City Card are required, so verify both before investing in the Church research. The technology then combines a delivery of thirty Rangers with their Veteran upgrade. If the card or prerequisite is missing, the player cannot use the technology as a shortcut to that force.

Longbowman production is replaced

After completion, Rangers can be trained at Barracks, Forts and Galleons in place of Longbowmen. This is a lasting roster change at those buildings, not simply an extra queue option alongside the Longbowman. Account for that replacement when planning the British ranged army, and retain other unit types or artillery to cover matchups where a Ranger force is vulnerable.
