Available in the Fortress Age, it costs 1,000 Coin and takes 15 seconds. It delivers five Stradiots named Red Lancers, allows Stradiots to be trained at the Tavern, increases their hand attack bonus against Infantry by 0.2, reduces their bonus against Heavy infantry by 10%, and tags them as lance cavalry. Before update 14.43676, the technology was called Waardgelders.

When to research
Research when Stradiots will be part of the army and you want a repeatable Tavern source. Account for their different bonuses against ordinary and Heavy infantry when choosing targets.
A Dutch Stradiot shipment and Tavern unlock
Red Lancers is a Fortress Age Dutch Church technology requiring the Religious Freedom Home City Card. It costs 1,000 Coin and takes 15 seconds. It delivers five Stradiots named Red Lancers, renames existing Stradiots and enables Stradiot training at the Tavern. The units gain +0.2 hand attack bonus damage against Infantry, lose 10% of their bonus against Heavy Infantry and receive the lance cavalry tag.
Target infantry and check the update
The technology supports continued Tavern production after the first group arrives. Its bonus profile changed in update 14.43676, when Waardgelders became Red Lancers. Use the listed matchup carefully: the infantry bonus improves one target class while the Heavy Infantry bonus is reduced. The Home City card, Dutch Church and Fortress Age are all required.
