Effect & research conditions

Research at the Rice Paddy for 400 Food and 400 Wood over 30 seconds. The bonus applies to the listed Coin sources, not to all Villager gathering. Rice Exports is the next technology in the sequence. Because this is a later upgrade, the economy must already have completed Rice Surplus and Rice Trade before it can be researched.

Research condition

Industrial Age; Rice Paddy; requires Rice Trade

When to research

Take Rice Markets when the match has reached the Industrial Age and workers or Haciendas are using the listed sources. It is a follow-on investment: its value builds on the prior Rice Trade research and continued Coin income. If the army needs immediate reinforcements, delay the 30-second research until the upgrade can repay its cost through sustained gathering.

A second bonus, not a replacement

Rice Markets follows Rice Trade and increases the same listed gathering rates by a further 20%. It is part of the Paddy’s economic technology chain, rather than a standalone substitute for the earlier prerequisite. Researching it assumes the player has already invested in Rice Trade and intends to continue developing Coin income from the covered sources.

The return depends on the economy you built

Villagers collecting Coin from Estates, Coin Rice Paddies, Fields and Haciendas receive the bonus; Hacienda automation is also improved. If these sources have few workers or will be abandoned, the research cannot earn much back. Evaluate the expected duration of the economy and the immediate cost of 400 Food and 400 Wood before opening the queue.
