Role, availability & values

The order takes 40 seconds, uses 14 population, costs 800 Export and grants 80 experience in the recorded profile. The Espadachins form the larger part of the force and can screen the Falconet as it advances. The Falconet adds artillery damage against targets such as buildings and enemy guns, but its loss removes the army’s only artillery unit. Access is through Japan’s Consulate and depends on the Spanish alliance being selected.

Training & availability

Japanese Consulate Banner Army; Fortress Age; select Spanish Allies; 800 Export; 40 seconds; 14 population; 9 Espadachins and 1 Consulate Falconet in Definitive Edition.

Matchup & timing

Choose this shipment when a Fortress Age push can use both numerous infantry and a protected Falconet. Advance the artillery behind the Espadachins and avoid a route where cavalry can reach it without first passing the screen. If the enemy’s army can isolate or quickly destroy the gun, another Consulate force may be a safer fit.

The single Falconet shapes the push

Nine Espadachins give the group a large close-range screen, but there is only one Consulate Falconet. Keep that gun behind the infantry and focus its fire on a target that advances the objective. Do not leave it exposed while the Espadachins chase elsewhere; losing it removes the formation’s artillery role.

Budget the full delivery

The 14-population army arrives after 40 seconds and costs Export. Make room before choosing it and time the request so the whole group can move toward the same target. The infantry can engage sooner than a separate artillery reinforcement would if they travel together, but the force still needs other units to answer matchups outside its composition.

Current composition and cost

Japanese players can train this Fortress Age company from the Consulate after choosing Spanish Allies. It costs 800 Export, takes 40 seconds and occupies 14 population. The Definitive Edition group is nine Espadachins and one Falconet; The Asian Dynasties version instead used ten Tercios and displayed a higher population count.

Infantry mass with one Falconet

Nine Espadachins make up the close-range infantry mass, while the single Falconet supplies artillery pressure. Protect the gun from fast units and avoid sending it ahead of the infantry. This package is useful when Japan needs a Fortress Age infantry group and siege support, but its limited artillery count means it should not face an unprotected enemy gun line.
