Native-unit Fortress reward and edition differences
The British can choose The Mohawk Statesman to reach the Fortress Age. The advance costs 1,200 Food and 1,000 Coin and takes 105 seconds; the reward is seven Haudenosaunee Tomahawks and one Native Scout. In the original release, it instead supplied three Iroquois Mantlets and could be selected by the British at Home City level 10 and the Portuguese at level 40. Definitive Edition removed those Home City level requirements and changed the shipment to Tomahawks; later updates also changed which civilizations could select this politician. The Tomahawks do not use population, making the reward helpful when population space is tight, but they remain a Native unit shipment rather than a replacement for a complete Fortress army. Choose the politician when the native force fits the deck and planned follow-up, and use the long Age-up interval to gather the resources needed for production after the shipment arrives.
How to use the Fortress shipment
This politician gives a native-heavy British force a quick addition at the moment the Fortress Age begins. Haudenosaunee Tomahawks do not occupy population in the Definitive Edition profile, so the seven-unit reward can be useful when the army is near its population cap or a shipment needs room. The Native Scout adds vision, helping identify a safe follow-up target or settlement. The 105-second age-up gives the opponent time to prepare, so use the interval to arrange the next Home City shipment and protect the route where the new units will join. The original game’s Mantlet shipment is a different historical version, not an alternate current reward. Decks and politician availability changed in later updates, so the British rule and present-day reward should be distinguished from older Portuguese Home City guides.
