Toussaint L’Ouverture
Toussaint L’Ouverture is a Revolution leader choice associated with the British and French in The WarChiefs and The Asian Dynasties. In those releases, selecting him improves Revolutionary units. Definitive Edition’s Haiti Revolution is a separate nation-based system, so the older leader choice should not be treated as its current Haiti roster.

Version & availability
The leader’s stated bonus increases the hit points of Revolutionaries by 10%. That bonus applies to the Revolutionary unit line rather than automatically improving every unit, building or economic effect from the Revolution. Access depends on the relevant civilization, expansion and edition.
Revolution bonus
In the original expansions, choose Toussaint when Revolutionaries will form a substantial share of the army and their extra durability helps the planned push. If the army will rely on other units, compare the bonus with the available alternatives. In Definitive Edition, consult the Haiti Revolution entry for its different system.
Revolution shipments and the role of the bonus
Toussaint’s 10% hit point bonus applies to Revolutionaries in the older Haiti leader choice; it does not increase the durability of every unit in the army. That focused benefit pairs with the leader’s repeatable Home City options: 16 Colonial Militia, four Gatling Guns, a Fort Wagon that raises the Fort build limit by one, or two Ironclads. Colonial Militia provide general-purpose infantry, Gatling Guns add anti-infantry fire, the wagon establishes a fortified position, and Ironclads support naval control. Choose the shipment for the immediate problem instead of selecting the same cargo automatically. These options belong to the older revolution system in The WarChiefs and The Asian Dynasties; Definitive Edition’s Haiti Revolution is a separate nation-based roster and uses its own rules.
