Units

White Buffalo

The White Buffalo is a rare controllable Pet that appears as a secondary-objective unit in Respect, the Act II: Ice scenario of Age of Empires III. The player must recapture it and return it to the Lakota village for 550 Experience. It has 480 hit points and a 22-damage hand attack, including a 3.0× bonus against Treasure guardians, but it moves at only 2.0 speed. Its scenario objective and slow pace matter more than treating it as an ordinary combat unit.

Role, availability & values

Locate and recapture the Buffalo, then escort it to the Lakota village flag area. Hostile forces can attack it during the return, so clear or screen the route before moving the animal across exposed ground. At 2.0 speed it cannot keep pace with a fast army, and its 22 hand damage is not enough to replace a dedicated force. It sees Stealth in the Definitive Edition profile and can also be placed through the Scenario Editor, but ordinary campaign play centers on the Respect objective.

Matchup & timing

Secure the return path when the secondary objective is feasible and spare enough troops to accompany the Buffalo. Its 550 Experience reward can support the campaign economy, but losing time or units to a poorly cleared route can put the main mission at risk. Keep it behind the escort and avoid sending it toward Treasure guardians merely because it has a damage bonus against them; that modifier describes its attack profile, not the objective.

A slow guardian specialist

White Buffalo has 480 hit points and a 22-damage hand attack with a 3.0× multiplier against Treasure guardians. Its 2.0 speed makes it slow to reposition, so direct it toward a known guardian encounter and protect it while it advances. The recorded role is context-specific; it should not be treated as a general-purpose mobile cavalry unit.

Respect scenario objective and reward

In Respect, recapturing the White Buffalo and bringing it back to the Lakota village completes a secondary objective worth 550 Experience. Hostile units can attack it, so the safe return route and escort are central to using it successfully. The unit is described as extremely rare and appears in this campaign scenario; Scenario Editor access is a separate way to place it.
