Overview

Le Loi and Le Lai hold a mountain stronghold while the Ming press in from several directions. Clear a safe passage east and protect the retreating rebels; keeping Le Loi with the evacuation force is essential to completing the escape.

Player approach

The Mountain Siege combines an immediate assault on a Vietnamese fortress with an economy that must expand beyond its cramped starting base. Le Loi must eventually reach the far corner, so he cannot remain sheltered in the Castle throughout the mission.

Step-by-step plan

Regroup the scattered starting army as the fortress receives the first Ming attack, then clear a safe route south toward berries and gold. Build Villager production and secure eastern resource sites with military escorts; add Town Centers where the base has too little farming room. Divide the force into a fortress garrison and an eastern field group, reinforcing both with mobile units, Monks, and defensive towers. Keep Le Loi with the expedition that can later escort him to the corner objective.

Risks and adjustments

A single army cannot defend every approach while clearing the map. Avoid sending unprotected Villagers east, and do not let the fortress reserve chase attackers away from its walls. Keep a mobile group available to reinforce whichever front is under pressure.
