Overview

Population space links Villager growth with military queues; a blocked queue interrupts a healthy economy.

Plan and execution

Check upcoming queues and build capacity ahead of the limit. Place Houses to reinforce walls without blocking production or escape routes; reassess after new Town Centers.

Risks and adaptation

Emergency housing can expose builders. Keep reserve space for planned production and balance it against urgent military needs.

Decision example

Before adding a second Town Center or several military buildings, count how quickly their queues will fill remaining population space. Build Houses in advance, but place them where they help a wall or safe building cluster without blocking Villager paths. In a late game near the cap, decide how much room is needed for workers, siege, Monks, and the core army; a large army with too few gatherers cannot replace losses. If units die in a fight, spend the opened capacity on the line that the economy and matchup can sustain.
