GUIDE · BATTLE STRATEGY
The Catalaunian Fields rapid-town defense
The Catalaunian Fields begins with abundant resources but no Town Center. Establish production immediately, use terrain and walls to protect the single early Castle, and exploit the opponent’s weak naval response.

Overview
The Catalaunian Fields begins with abundant resources but no Town Center. Establish production immediately, use terrain and walls to protect the single early Castle, and exploit the opponent’s weak naval response.
Plan and execution
Build a Town Center at once and add Villagers and military production to convert the starting stockpile into an army. Place the first Castle north of the Town Center to cover the Alan approach, then establish a Market and University to support further stone access and defensive research. Wall likely land routes so attackers take damage from the Castle and must break through a controlled entrance. Use early ships to take the water, then pressure from the coast while your army holds the land lanes.
Risks and adaptation
Stone is initially sufficient for only one Castle, so choose its position carefully and use the Market before expanding fortifications. Keep walls from trapping your own forces, and do not assume the naval advantage removes the need to defend the Town Center.
