Arsenal Wagon (technology)

Arsenal Wagon is a Japanese Consulate technology obtained through the Dutch alliance in the Fortress Age. It delivers one Arsenal Wagon, which can establish an Arsenal and thereby make the Arsenal’s research choices available. This is a utility unlock rather than a direct combat upgrade: the wagon provides access to a site, while each later Arsenal technology has its own cost, research time and effect.

Japanese Arsenal access

The technology costs 300 Export and takes 30 seconds to research. After the wagon arrives, place it where the Arsenal can be protected and reached by the army. The Japanese Arsenal research list recorded for this option includes Infantry Breastplate, Socket Bayonet, Cavalry Cuirass, Gunner’s Quadrant and Heated Shot. These upgrades cover different unit or siege needs, so opening the building does not mean every technology should be researched. Confirm each linked upgrade’s requirements before spending further resources.

Fortress Age technology

Choose this route when an Arsenal upgrade will answer a known need in the Fortress Age—such as strengthening the relevant infantry or cavalry line, or improving artillery support. Its low wagon cost can be useful when the Dutch Consulate option fits the deck, but the actual value depends on the additional resources and time needed for the chosen research. If the army does not use the affected unit class, another alliance option may contribute more immediately.

Deploy the Arsenal before choosing upgrades

The Arsenal Wagon has 250 hit points, speed 4.0, line of sight 18 and 20% siege resistance. It builds the Arsenal three times faster than the normal rate, but the wagon is still vulnerable while crossing the map. Its main value is unlocking the Arsenal research site; it does not grant those upgrades automatically. Once the building is placed, compare Infantry Breastplate, Socket Bayonet, Cavalry Cuirass, Gunner’s Quadrant and Heated Shot with the unit lines and siege threats in the current match. Research only the upgrades that support the army being fielded.
