Role, availability & values

The recorded profile lists 75 Food and 50 Coin, 30 seconds, one population, 500 hit points, 10% hand resistance, 4.0 speed and 12 line of sight. It deals 12 hand damage every 1.5 seconds, with a 2× multiplier against Cavalry, and 14 siege damage at range 6 every three seconds. It is not normally trainable in Skirmish or campaign; the Scenario Editor provides access, and the source notes rare Unknown-map production.

Training & availability

Campaign appearance: Act I: Blood. The Scenario Editor can use the Circle of Ossus as the player civilization; the unit is not normally trainable in Campaign or Skirmish, with rare production reported on Unknown maps.

Matchup & timing

Use the Swordsman profile for a scenario melee role, especially when the listed cavalry bonus is relevant. Keep it separate from the Musketeer profile: the Swordsman moves more slowly, has no ranged attack, costs less in the recorded data and has a different experience value. Do not treat the profile cost as normal campaign production access.

A distinct melee profile, not a Musketeer upgrade

Both Boneguard variants belong to the Circle of Ossus and are first associated with Act I: Blood. The Swordsman uses a hand attack with a Cavalry bonus and a siege attack; the Musketeer has a ranged gun attack and a different movement speed. The profiles should be read independently. Neither is normally a standard campaign or Skirmish production choice, although the captured article notes rare trainability on Unknown maps.

Reading its production fields correctly

The profile includes European Barracks and Fort as production buildings, but the article’s availability notes qualify those fields: this is a Circle of Ossus scenario unit, not a routine European Barracks choice. It first appears in Act I: Blood, and the Scenario Editor can expose the faction by setting the player civilization to the Circle of Ossus. The rare Unknown-map exception is map-specific and should not be assumed on ordinary random maps. In a custom scenario its hand attack and Cavalry multiplier make it a melee infantry profile; the 14-point siege attack gives it a separate role against buildings. Use the Boneguard Musketeer page for the ranged counterpart and do not merge the two units’ attacks or speed values.
