Castle Rickshaw

Castle Rickshaw is an Asian construction wagon introduced in The Asian Dynasties and delivered by selected Home City Cards. It transforms into a Castle without the normal Wood and Coin payment, giving the player a mobile option for placing defensive artillery production.

Role, availability & values

In Definitive Edition it has 500 hit points, 20% siege resistance, 4.0 speed and 18 line of sight, and builds Castles three times faster than ordinary construction. The Asian Dynasties version had 250 hit points and built two times faster; the edition changes both durability and construction rate.

Matchup & timing

Scout the destination before sending the card, then place the Castle where it can protect workers, a route or a forward production area. Keep the wagon safe while it travels; the free construction still costs time and the fixed Castle needs support once placed.

Construction and release-specific profile

The Castle Rickshaw’s statistics changed substantially between The Asian Dynasties and Definitive Edition. The earlier wagon has 250 hit points, is tagged as economic, builds a Castle twice as fast and grants 60 XP if killed. Definitive Edition raises its health to 500, classifies it as military, allows it to see Stealth, increases construction speed to three times normal and removes the XP reward on death. The free Castle is still a large structure that takes time to build and can become an important target. Escort the wagon to a site that protects a resource route or production area, then guard the finished Castle against siege. Do not apply the older 250-hit-point profile when evaluating the Definitive Edition wagon.

Shipment planning and placement

Castle Rickshaws arrive through selected Home City shipments rather than ordinary training. The completed Castle can train units and provide defensive artillery, making the free placement valuable near a front that needs reinforcement. In Definitive Edition the wagon’s Stealth detection is another change from the Asian Dynasties profile. Position it where the Castle can cover a meaningful approach but where the 4.0-speed wagon can reach without crossing a defended choke alone.

Protecting the Castle investment

Castle Rickshaw can see Stealth in Definitive Edition, which gives the deployed wagon an additional scouting function on its approach. Use that vision to choose a site, but do not send the wagon ahead without protection: it is a valuable shipment and the placed Castle becomes a fixed target. Its free construction saves the normal Castle cost, not the time needed to finish the structure.

Asian construction wagon and edition change

The Castle Rickshaw is a mobile Asian construction unit delivered by selected Home City Cards. It builds a Castle for free, allowing the player to place defensive artillery production without paying the normal Wood and Coin cost. The wagon has 500 hit points, 20% siege resistance, four speed and 18 line of sight in Definitive Edition. The Asian Dynasties version was less durable and constructed at half the current speed multiplier, so older guides may describe a 250-hit-point wagon that builds two times faster rather than the DE profile.

Protecting the route and completed Castle

A free Castle still requires travel time and a safe construction site. Scout a position that can defend workers or a forward production area, then escort the Rickshaw until the structure is complete. The fixed Castle needs support after placement, especially if enemy siege can approach. The shipment is most useful when the Castle’s defensive and artillery functions will be used for a long enough period to justify spending a card on it. Confirm the edition and Home City card before including the Rickshaw in a build plan.
