Combat statistics

The variant starts with 10% more hit points and damage than the standard Grenadier and gains 6 Line of Sight and attack range. It receives automatic hit point and damage upgrades as the game progresses: +20% in the Fortress Age, +30% in the Industrial Age and +50% in the Imperial Age. In the Russian Hungary revolution, Hungarian Grenadiers can be trained at Blockhouses, Forts and Galleons in place of ordinary Grenadiers; the Ottoman path can transform existing Grenadiers and Humbaraci, and Germans can gain access through the Hungarian Grenadiers Home City Card. Its classification means it can benefit from effects that apply to heavy infantry or artillery, but its short-range grenade attack and movement still differ from a conventional cannon.

Siege role & counters

Use the unit when a Russian Hungary army needs durable siege infantry to support its Blockhouse network. It is useful against buildings and grouped ground forces, but light infantry, cavalry, shock infantry and true artillery can threaten it. Keep the Grenadiers behind a screen and use Blockhouses or nearby units to protect their approach. This variant is not the ordinary Grenadier and its revolution-specific upgrades should not be applied to every civilization.

Upgrades and classification

Hungarian Grenadiers begin with 10% more hit points and damage than a standard Grenadier and receive +6 Line of Sight and attack range. Their automatic progression improves both hit points and damage by 20% in the Fortress Age, 30% in the Industrial Age and 50% in the Imperial Age. They count as both heavy infantry and artillery for relevant effects. That combined classification can interact with upgrades and counters in more than one category, but it does not give them the range, mobility or firing pattern of a cannon. Check the unit panel and current Age when comparing their performance with ordinary Grenadiers.

Russian production and battlefield role

In the Russian Hungary path, the unit can be trained from Blockhouses, Forts and Galleons in place of ordinary Grenadiers. Blockhouse production can make a defended position a useful reinforcement point, while a Galleon option matters only on maps with accessible water. The Grenadier’s short-ranged siege attack is useful when the army reaches buildings or clustered ground units, but the unit still needs a screen while it closes distance. Use infantry or cavalry to prevent enemy units from freely surrounding it, and avoid sending the Grenadiers ahead of their support. Their value comes from combining local production with a durable siege role, not from replacing every other unit in the Russian army.

Civilization and revolution determine the exact route

The Hungarian Grenadier is not one universal production option. Russian Hungary can train it at Blockhouses, Forts and Galleons in place of ordinary Grenadiers; the Ottoman path can transform existing Grenadiers and Humbaraci; Germans can obtain access through the Hungarian Grenadiers Home City Card. The shared name describes the variant, while the actual production building and transition depend on the parent civilization and how it entered Hungary.
