Villager gather work rate for Mill, Farm, Rice Paddy (food), Field (food), and Hacienda (food) +40%; Hacienda auto gather work rate for food +40%

Effect & research conditions

Research costs 1,000 Wood and 1,000 Coin and takes 30 seconds. The work-rate bonus applies to Villagers collecting Food from the listed buildings; the passive bonus belongs to Hacienda Food income. It does not improve Coin or Wood gathering from those sites. The State Capitol and United States Imperial Age requirement define its access.

Research condition

Available to United States from the Imperial Age. Research it at State Capitol.

When to research

Research when many Villagers are assigned to eligible Food sources and Haciendas can continue their passive production. A 40% increase is substantial, but the high cost makes it a late-game commitment. Compare the immediate needs for military production with how long the economy can exploit the improved gathering and Hacienda output.

Food income for both workers and Haciendas

Iowa Farmlands affects active and passive Food production. Villagers gain 40% work rate at Mills, Farms, Food Rice Paddies, Fields and Haciendas, while Hacienda auto-gathering Food also rises by 40%. Workers on Hunts, mines or Wood are outside the listed effect. Assign labor to eligible sources and keep Haciendas operating if the technology is expected to repay its two-thousand-resource cost.
