Outlaw Musketeer
Outlaw Musketeer is a treasure guardian variant of the Musketeer, rather than a standard Barracks recruit. It appears in campaign and Unknown-map encounters; in the original game it guards the treasure holding two British Settlers. Definitive Edition Home City options for the Lakota and Maya can also include it among randomly shipped outlaws, so its availability is broader than a map guardian but remains card- and civilization-specific.

Guardian role
The guardian profile has 450 hit points, 20% hand resistance, speed 7.0 and line of sight 14. Its ranged attack deals 30 damage at range 12 every three seconds; its hand attack deals 20 every 1.5 seconds, and its siege attack deals 40 at range 6 every three seconds. The Original profile has a 3.0× hand-attack bonus against Cavalry. Definitive Edition lists a 0.25× modifier against Villagers for both ranged and hand attacks. Lakota and Maya Outlaw Musketeers received through their outlaw shipments can benefit from Wild West and effects that improve infantry or hand infantry; do not assume those card-recruited versions follow the same rules as a neutral guardian.
Availability & version
Campaign and Unknown-map treasure guardian; Lakota and Maya can also receive it through their Outlaw Band or Bandit Gang Home City options. It is not a standard Barracks unit. Attack modifiers vary by edition.
Combat values
Treat it as a high-health guardian to defeat before claiming the associated treasure. Bring enough damage to clear it without allowing the encounter to consume the force needed for the next objective. Do not use its 450 hit points, speed 7.0 or guardian damage as the standard Musketeer balance profile.
Treasure encounter and card access
In the original campaign and Unknown maps, this guardian protects a treasure containing two British Settlers; other treasure encounters use a different guardian. In Definitive Edition, the Lakota Outlaw Band and Maya Bandit Gang Home City options can add Outlaw Musketeers to the random outlaw shipment pool. That route is still conditional on civilization and deck access, and does not make the unit a routine Barracks recruit. Use the available card when its unpredictable outlaw reinforcement fits the plan, rather than expecting a guaranteed Musketeer shipment.
Edition rules and unit improvements
The Original profile gives the unit a 3.0× hand-attack bonus against Cavalry. Definitive Edition instead lists a 0.25× modifier against Villagers for ranged and hand attacks. These are distinct edition records. For card-recruited Lakota or Maya versions, Wild West and other effects that apply to infantry or hand infantry can affect the unit; those modifiers should not be applied automatically to neutral treasure guardians. Its high health, speed and attacks also differ sharply from the standard Commerce Age Musketeer, so use the appropriate profile when planning a guardian fight.
