Panama
Panama is a Definitive Edition hybrid map themed around the Central American isthmus. Its coasts connect the Pacific and Caribbean, while a land Trade Route and Maya and Zapotec settlements offer separate economic and military opportunities. Pirate and Pistolero Outlaws may also appear, and Spanish Treasure ships can provide Coin.

Map character
Scout the coastline, Trade Route and native settlements before choosing whether the match will emphasize naval control or land aggression. The Pacific and Caribbean sides can be contested separately, so identify useful Dock sites and safe crossings. Check for Spanish Treasure ships and decide whether the army can reach them safely. Settlement upgrades can support an early land push, but require a force able to hold the Trading Post or Tambo.
What to scout
Choose a deck and opening around the actual water and route access. Naval investment can improve the economy if ships can operate safely; land production may offer a faster attack if the native upgrades and route are within reach. Avoid splitting the army between both coasts before scouting the opponent’s approach. Protect the route posts or settlements that support the chosen plan.
Two coasts and a land corridor
Panama lets players pursue different forms of map control: contest the seas for economic advantage, secure a Trade Route on land, or use Maya and Zapotec settlement access for early aggression. These plans compete for resources and army attention. A Dock is valuable only if there is useful water to control, while an inland force needs safe routes between the Town Center, settlements and the opponent. Spanish Treasure ships add a Coin objective, but reaching one can expose ships or troops. Scout first, then commit to the coast or land corridor the map actually makes safest.
