Randy the Pet Rhino

Randy the Pet Rhino is a pet unit whose recorded bonus is strongest against Treasure guardians. It can help an Explorer clear a reward site, but its low modifier against Villagers means it is not designed for economic raids.

Role, availability & values

Randy has 220 hit points, moves at 5.0 speed, costs 250 Food and takes 27 seconds to train. Its hand attack deals 27 damage, with a 1.2× bonus against Treasure guardians and a 0.1× modifier against Villagers. Availability is limited to the scenarios or civilizations that provide it.

Matchup & timing

Use Randy to support Treasure collection or the special objective that grants it. Keep it with a force that can protect it from military counters and do not rely on it for standard combat. Account for its Food cost before using the pet instead of producing army units.

Treasure guardian support

Randy is a special pet unit associated with The Asian Dynasties and Definitive Edition content, with availability restricted to the scenario or civilization that supplies it. The profile lists 220 hit points, 10% hand resistance, speed 5.0 and line of sight 12. It costs 250 Food and takes 27 seconds to train where that option exists. The hand attack deals 27 damage every 1.5 seconds, with a 1.2× bonus against Treasure guardians and only 0.1× damage against Villagers. Randy can help an Explorer defeat a manageable guardian, but it is not intended for worker raids or ordinary frontline combat. Its 250-Food cost is substantial in the opening, so consider the value of the Treasure and the other units required for safety before producing it. Keep the Rhino with an escort, clear the guardians together and protect it while the Explorer collects the reward. Because access is special, check the mission or civilization before including Randy in a build plan. Its high health compared with some pets does not make it safe against a full army.

When the 250-Food cost is worthwhile

Randy’s high Food cost makes it an expensive pet despite its Treasure role. Compare the potential reward and guardian strength against the Food needed for Villagers or military units before training it. Its 1.2× guardian bonus increases the value of the 27-damage attack, but it deals only 0.1× against Villagers. Keep Randy with the Explorer and a supporting force, and collect the Treasure promptly after the guardians fall. If the scenario does not grant Randy or a similar pet, use ordinary units rather than planning around unavailable access. Protect it after the fight; losing the pet wastes the investment and removes its scouting support.

Treasure support and protection

Use Randy’s guardian bonus as part of a combined Explorer force and do not send it into a Villager group, where the damage multiplier is only 0.1. Its 220 hit points are useful for a pet but do not make it a frontline unit.

Food investment

At 250 Food, Randy competes with early Villagers and army units. Train it only when a Treasure or scenario goal justifies the cost and the Explorer can protect it.

Scenario-specific access

Randy is not a standard unit in every civilization’s roster. Check the mission or scenario source and weigh the 250-Food cost against the value of the Treasure it helps secure.

Treasure expedition timing

Train Randy only when the Explorer and support are ready to approach a Treasure. The 27-second training and 250-Food price should fit the timing of the reward.

Treasure Guardian pet and Indian shipment

Randy the Pet Rhino is a pet available in The Asian Dynasties content. The profile lists a 250-Food cost, 27-second training time and a limit of 12. Randy has 220 hit points, 10% hand resistance, speed five and sight 12. Its 27-damage melee attack fires every 1.5 seconds and deals 1.2× damage against Treasure Guardians but only 0.1× against Villagers. An Indian Home City can send a team shipment of two Rhinos from the Commerce Age, and Randy can also be rescued from Treasures on Southeast Asian maps such as Borneo and Ceylon. These access routes make the pet a useful helper for exploration and Treasure fights, not a worker-raiding unit.

Automatic pet upgrades and target limits

Pets improve automatically as the game advances: the cited profile lists hit-point and damage bonuses of 20% in the second Age, 30% in the third, 40% in the fourth and 60% in the fifth. Randy’s high base attack can therefore grow with the match, but his low multiplier against Villagers remains a poor reason to send him after the economy. Use him against Treasure Guardians with a Hero and keep him near the force that can protect him from concentrated damage. His value comes from reducing the risk and time of claiming Treasure, then adding support in a nearby fight. Do not count the pet as a substitute for ordinary Infantry or Cavalry; its target multipliers and access are specialized.
