Revetment

Revetment is an Industrial Age Fort upgrade that strengthens its bombardment and improves how far it can see and fire. It turns an established Fort into a more effective landmark for defending a route or settlement, rather than improving every building or artillery unit in the army.

Effect

The Fort researches Revetment in 60 seconds for 500 Wood and 500 Coin. It adds 50% bombard damage and 6 line of sight and bombard range. These improvements apply to the Fort, so its placement determines whether the extra range covers a useful approach or target.

Research condition

Available in the Industrial Age at Fort. Research time: 60 seconds. Cost: 500 wood, 500 coin. Civilization-specific building access can vary.

Research decision

Research it when a Fort anchors a position likely to remain contested and the army can protect the structure. The added range is most useful when the Fort has clear access to a route or enemy approach; an isolated Fort can still be sieged, bypassed or attacked from outside its support.

Exact Fort improvements

Revetment costs 500 Wood and 500 Coin and takes 60 seconds to research at a Fort in the Industrial Age. It adds 50% to the Fort’s bombard attack damage and increases both its Line of Sight and bombard attack range by 6. These values apply to the Fort itself, not to nearby artillery or other defensive buildings. The extra reach is most useful when the structure can cover a route or target that matters to the battle.

Connection to House of Wettin defenses

For a House of Wettin player, Königstein is the settlement technology that unlocks Revetment and Star Fort while also supplying a Fort Wagon and another Fort build slot. Revetment then strengthens an established Fort rather than replacing the need to construct and defend it. Protect the site from siege and avoid investing in the upgrade if the Fort is likely to be bypassed or destroyed before its improved range can influence the fight.
