Japanese Wonder age-up and Daimyo reward
The Shogunate, also called the National Government in the project’s naming, is a Japanese Wonder available for age advances from Exploration through Industrial Age. Asian Villagers construct it, up to eight builders can assist, and the Wonder is limited to one. It has 5,000 hit points, 12 line of sight and an 8-by-8 footprint. Completing the structure advances Japan to the next Age, grants Experience and sends Daimyo Masamune. It can also retrain Daimyo and Shogun Tokugawa, which gives the Wonder a continuing role after the transition. The age-up reward and access to Japanese leaders make it a military-oriented option among the Wonders; compare it with other rewards before committing the workers and resources. Place it where the building can be defended and where the arriving Daimyo can join the army without crossing an exposed route. Since Japanese Wonders each have a distinct reward, choose the Shogunate when its leader and retraining functions fit the next phase. Protect the builders while construction is in progress, and use its retraining options to restore a lost leader when the conditions permit.
Retraining Japanese leaders
The ability to retrain Daimyo and Shogun Tokugawa helps Japan recover named leaders after they are lost, subject to the Wonder’s availability and the current scenario rules. Use the Shogunate as a safe rear or central production point rather than exposing its 8-by-8 footprint on an unsupported frontier. The Wonder’s one-per-player limit means the Japanese player must compare its age-up and leader utility with rewards from the other Wonders. It is especially relevant when an army plan depends on a Daimyo’s leadership or on replacing a fallen Shogun. Builders remain vulnerable until the 5,000-hit-point structure is complete, so keep troops nearby during construction. When the age-up completes, gather the reward near the army and use the Experience and leader functions to maintain momentum through the next Age.
Wonder role among Japanese choices
This Wonder is a strong selection when Japan values a Daimyo reward and retraining access. Compare those functions with other Japanese age-up rewards before construction begins.
Japanese Wonder and Daimyo access
The Shogunate, also named National Government in this project’s index, is a Japanese Wonder used to advance through the Ages from Exploration to Industrial. Asian Villagers build it, with up to eight builders contributing. It is limited to one, has 5,000 hit points, sight 12 and an 8-by-8 footprint. Completing the Wonder grants Experience and sends Daimyo Masamune; afterward it can retrain Daimyo and Shogun Tokugawa. The structure therefore combines Age advancement, a leader reinforcement and continued access to Japanese commanders. Its site should be protected during construction, since losing the only Wonder interrupts the age-up and delays the army reward.
Retraining and placement choices
Place the Shogunate where a retrained Daimyo or Shogun can join the army without crossing an exposed route. The commanders add value beyond their combat profiles by leading troops and supporting production, so a safe rally point helps them return to the force quickly. The Wonder’s large footprint can constrain nearby buildings, and its single-building limit makes the initial choice permanent for that match. Decide whether its reward suits the coming phase before construction: the Experience helps the shipment cycle, while the Daimyo and retraining access support Japanese military control. Other Japanese Wonders provide different effects, so compare their reward and location rather than treating every age-up as interchangeable.
