Effect & research conditions

Available to Asians from the Fortress Age. Research it at Asian Market. It requires Regenerative Forestry (Chinese and Japanese). Effect: Villager gather work rate for tree and Mango Grove +30%. Research costs 240 food, 480 coin. Research takes 30 seconds. Further research: Tropical Timber Trade.

Research condition

Available to Asians from the Fortress Age. Research it at Asian Market. It requires Regenerative Forestry (Chinese and Japanese).

When to research

The 30% increase is a substantial late Wood investment, but it applies only to Villagers chopping trees or Mango Groves. Chinese and Japanese must have Regenerative Forestry first; research costs 240 Food and 480 Coin and takes 30 seconds in the Fortress Age. If logging is nearly finished or workers are exposed, save the resources for units; Tropical Timber Trade is a later, separate Imperial Age upgrade.

A strong bonus limited to Wood sources

Timber Trade increases Villager gathering from trees and Mango Groves by 30%. It does not make Fields, mines or buildings produce faster. The bonus is valuable when sustained logging supports production and construction.

Prerequisite and follow-up

Asian civilizations research it in the Fortress Age at the Asian Market after Regenerative Forestry; the listed prerequisite applies to Chinese and Japanese access. The cost is 240 Food and 480 Coin for 30 seconds of research. Tropical Timber Trade follows in the Imperial Age and must be paid for separately.
